FLASH DUELING TOURNAMENT CONTEST

The FLASH DUELING TOURNAMENT CONTEST is a competition to find out just who is top dog when it comes to flash actionscript; this competition sorts the 1337 from the n00bs. In short, this is a tournament to find champions! Do you think you are up to it? OF COURSE YOU ARE!

WHAT HAPPENS

What do you need to win the tournament? Well you can't enter until you earn a duellists card!
How do you get one of those? Well you must have a flash on dA with some interactivity (that includes games and even dress ups). You then comment on the entry journal guyflash.deviantart.com/journa… with a link to your interactive flash. your entry flash doesn't need to be new either and it wont be compared to anyone else, its just to make sure can flash a little

if you do that you will get your duellists card and you are then officially a duellist (easy right  )

you only have a certain amount of time to get a duellists card however, as the deadline for entering is two weeks from now on July 16, after that the duel really begins.

once we have all our duellists entered, the specification for the duel will be announced, basically you will have to make an interactive flash based around a theme that will only be announced then, you will then have until august 27 (yep, a whole month) to create your duelling flash which will be marked on different areas set out below.

once the deadline has passed, entries will be judged and then deviants will get to vote on the top ten scoring flashes, after a week of voting, fist, second and third places will be announced and the prizes given out

MARKING

Judges will assess and mark duellist's entries with a score of 0 to 5 in the following areas:

script clarity
is the script efficient, is there unnecessary complicated bits, is it organised etc...

Expert Marks
There are bonus points for advanced scripting such as the higher the % of the flash made at runtime the better, also marks are given for getting things into less lines of code.

Visual Quality
Marks are awarded for how good the actual thing looks, if it doesn't lag etc...

the 'X' factor
Marks here are for how much you impressed the judges, and can take into account qualities that the other marking areas don't

marks will then be totalled and the ten highest scoring dualists then get voted on by deviants

PRIZES

of course, with such a prestigious competition the true honour is in the taking part and competing, however as an added incentive:
1st place: 1 year subscription and certificate
2nd place: 3 month subscription and certificate
3rd place: 1 month subscription and certificate

runners up will get an "I took part in the flash duelling tournament contest and all I got was this certificate" certificate.

JUDGES
